Koftas with yogurt and mint sauce
Today I want to talk to you about koftas, which are spiced lamb or beef meatballs. It’s a recipe that has many versions. It’s prepared in India, but it’s also typical in Middle Eastern countries. I’ve made my homemade version with the ingredients I like.
Koftas can be made in many ways. Sometimes they’re served in a curry, other times on skewers, and also as small meatballs with a refreshing sauce based on cottage cheese (paneer) or yogurt.
Homemade koftas are lamb or beef meatballs with lots of spices.
This is how I usually make them I like to prepare small meatballs with lots of spices and cook them in the oven, then serve them with a very fresh yogurt, cucumber, and mint sauce. Today’s koftas are made with Homemade Garam Masala, powdered ginger, and chopped chilies. All these spices, along with garlic and onion, give them a special, intense flavor that goes very well with the yogurt, cucumber, and mint sauce. Very refreshing!
It is an easy dish to make and very suitable for the summer. You can have them warm or cold, you can accompany them with any refreshing soup, a vichyssoise, a gazpacho, or a cold cucumber soup, for example.
I really like this recipe because they are also easy to store, you can make them in advance and they are also a good appetizer.
If you usually eat out, they are a good idea to take in your Tupperware or when you are going out to make a picnic.
I usually cook the koftas in the oven so I avoid frying oil.
You add the right amount of flavor with the spices, you can make them milder or stronger. I like the Garam Masala to be noticeable and I also like the koftas to be a little spicy, especially to differentiate them from the meatballs we usually make.
What I love about this dish is the contrast with the yogurt sauce, it’s perfect, and since the portions are small, you can adjust the amount you want. you want.
If you like meat, try this option, it is an oriental version of our typical meatballs, you can vary the mix of spices, and the type of meat, they are usually made of lamb or beef, you can also mix the meats.

- 1 cebolleta picada
- 1/2 cdita sal marina
Salsa de yogur
- 125 g yogur natural
- 1 cdita zumo de limón
- 60 g pepino rallado
- 4 hojas de menta fresca picadas

Instructions
Koftas
