STUFFED PEPPERS IN 4 STEPS

I don’t know if this happens to you, but when someone talks to you about something “stuffed” it sounds like a complicated and difficult recipe to execute. It used to happen to me, but not anymore, because I’ve found a way to make many “stuffed” things in just a few steps, without dirtying many dishes and without spending the whole morning in the kitchen.

 

Preparing these stuffed peppers is very simple, it’s an easy and practical recipe.

 

If there’s one thing that characterizes my way of cooking, it’s the fact that it’s “practical”, because what I’m always looking for is to invest little time and make as little mess as possible, but without giving up eating healthy and delicious food every day.

Today’s recipe meets all my expectations, it is delicious, easy to prepare, you dirty a bowl and a cutting board, it is cooked in the oven without prior cooking, so you do not have to be aware and from a nutritional point of view it is low in carbohydrates, just what I need!.

 

Stuffed peppers gratin

 

To make this dish you need some peppers, if they are medium-sized and round better, I bought three-colored peppers, but you can use the ones you have available, red, green or yellow.

Buy minced meat, ask the butcher for a mix of beef and pork, if you want you can minced chicken or turkey, I’ll leave it to your choice.

It is important that you add spices to flavor the meat, it will be what gives it the special touch, I used cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper and cloves, I also added garlic powder, salt and freshly ground black pepper.

I added a little milk to the meat to make it juicier and a good spoonful of sugar-free ketchup to add flavor. (If you are a mustard fan, add a teaspoon as well).

 

In 4 steps you have your stuffed peppers ready: wash and open the peppers, stuff, bake and gratinate.

 

To make it juicier, what better than a little fat, I used two slices of English-style smoked bacon cut into strips and to finish a little cheese.

The procedure is very easy, in a bowl, prepare the meat dough with the ingredients that I have mentioned, knead it well and set it aside, (Step 1).

Then open the peppers in half and remove the seeds, (Step 2). Fill each half with the meat mixture, add the bacon strips on top (Step 3) and bake for 20 minutes at 180ºC.

At the last minute, add grated cheese, choose your favorite, and gratin (Step 4).

Serve the peppers. If they are small like mine, 3 halves is the right serving.

Ingredients
  

  • 600 g pimientos medianos (3 pimientos)
  • 300 g carne picada (mezcla de ternera y cerdo)
  • 2 cda leche
  • 1 cda salsa ketchup (sin azúcar mejor)
  • 1 cda mostaza de Dijon (opcional)
  • 1 pizca sal marina
  • 1 pizca pimienta recién molida
  • 1 pizca canela en polvo
  • 1 pizca nuez moscada
  • 1 pizca ajo en polvo
  • 1 pizca clavo molido
  • 125 g bacon ahumado estilo inglés
  • 4 cda queso rallado (cualquier queso para gratinar)

Instructions
 

  • Lavar y cortar los pimientos a la mitad, retirar las semillas. (No es necesario que les quites el pedúnculo). En un bol mezcla la carne con las especias, la sal, el ketchup, la leche y si te gusta, la mostaza.
  • Rellena cada mitad con la mezcla y añade encima el bacon ahumado cortado en tiras finas.
  • Hornea los pimientos con el relleno durante 2o min. a 180ºC.
  • Añade queso rallado y gratina 5 min. más. Ya puedes servir tus pimientos rellenos, decora con unas hojitas de perejil o cilantro fresco. Lo mejor de esta receta es el sabor especiado del relleno, eso es lo que la hace especial.

Notes

*Para asegurarte de que el plato resultante sea sin gluten, debes tener en cuenta que el queso rallado sea "sin gluten", y las salsas (ketchup y mostaza), también.
