KUMQUAT WITH CHOCOLATE AND COCONUT

Te propongo un dulce sin azúcar muy especial, kumquat cubierto de chocolate negro con coco rallado, una combinación sorprendente.

The kumquat or Chinese orange is a delight, if you cover it with dark chocolate and sprinkle a little grated coconut, the result is a delight squared.

Surely you already know what fruit I’m talking about, they are those tiny oranges that curiously, are sour inside and sweet outside, their skin is sweet, it’s just the opposite of what you would expect, right?

Many people don’t like kumquat, too sour!, most say, but I have another theory, and that is that the texture influences it.

For me, the reason why kumquats are not usually liked is because they are eaten in a bite, whole, and nobody would expect to eat an orange with its skin, right?

The skin of the orange is very bitter and that makes us reject it a lot, it is unpleasant to bite into it, and even more so chew it.

For this reason, when we see a kumquat, an orange comes to mind, and of course, the last thing you would think of would be to take a bite.

But we have to change that idea, because in the case of the kumquat, its skin is thin and sweet, yes I repeat, thin and sweet.

When you put it in your mouth, a wonderful effect occurs, the center of the kumquat, juicy and acidic, explodes to mix with that sweet and thin skin, the mixture is perfect.

I wanted to use this very special fruit to prepare a very special recipe.

Kumquat and dark chocolate combine perfectly, their flavors contrast and complement each other at the same time.

The idea was to prepare a bite with contrasts of flavor and textures.

And what flavor contrasts perfectly with orange and also complements it? Without a doubt, chocolate, and dark chocolate is even better. That’s why I decided to prepare a dark chocolate coating, cover the kumquats, and then sprinkle them with grated coconut. I assure you the result is spectacular.

… orchards and even gardens, they can also be bought at markets, but it’s almost certain that someone around you has them and doesn’t use them as they should.

It has become a rather decorative fruit, it looks great on many dessert dishes, it adds color and makes it more beautiful, but few people consider it a fruit worthy of being eaten on its own.

That’s why my intention is to overthrow this myth, the kumquat is a delight that can be consumed as such, it is a bite-sized fruit, just as you eat a strawberry, you can eat a kumquat.

The kumquat is known as the Chinese orange, and as such, it shares its nutritional properties.

The kumquat or Chinese orange has very nutritional properties interesting.

They are rich in vitamin C and fiber, so it can be said that it is a fruit with high antioxidant power and very satiating.

Being rich in vitamin C, they will facilitate the absorption of iron from the diet. (Remember that foods that provide vitamin C facilitate the absorption of iron, while foods rich in calcium compete with iron for its absorption, which is why they make it difficult).

It is a citrus fruit, so in addition to vitamin C, it provides folic acid and potassium.

If despite everything, you still have some reservations, I invite you to try this recipe and see how easy it is to give them a twist to obtain a very special result.
